Stores are never more than a walk away and the cities have lots of things to do. There is also great public transport and everything is within easy reach, even if you don't have a car.
As for entertainment, Korea has all the modern conveniences of a well developed Western city. The bars here open 24hrs so there is lots of time to socialize. Many of the same brand names and restaurants that you find in the West, are in Korea also eg. TGI Fridays, Pizza Hut, Wal-Mart. Many of the bars also show big games from various basketball, soccer and American football leagues from around the world. However if you feel like getting away from it all, then it's easy to find a mountain trail to go hiking.
